ASPARAGUS
RACEMOSUS WILLD is a climbing shrub / creeper
belonging to the family Liliaceae. It is a medicinally very
important plant.

MEDICINAL
USE
|
Several
medicinal properties are attributed to the root. The dried
root of the plant is used as drug.
The
drug has ulcer healing resistance or cyto-protection. The
roots are said to be tonic and diluretic and used as galactogogue.
It has also been identified as one of the drugs to control
the symptoms of AIDS. Satavarin a glycoside of Sarasapogenin
with 2 rhamnose and 1 glucose residue has been isolated
from its roots. A mixture of honey and fresh root juice
is given as a demulcent in dyspepsia. The root is largely
used in the preparation of medicated oils, prescribed for
nervous and rheumatic complaints.
