This is a wonder herb from Paraguay. The leaves of this splendid plant are 30 times sweeter than sugar , with zero calories where as pure extract is 300 times sweeter than sugar. Presently it is consumed in large quantities in eastern block countries such as Japan , Korea. Etc.

Although origin of Stevia Rebaudiana are in central Paraguay where it grow near the ponds and streams in wild conditions. Native Paraguayans have been consuming this herb in large quantities for many centuries. It was only during early fifties that Japanese stumbled upon this unique herb and took it to Japan where they have developed many varieties of this wonderful herb for large scale cultivation.

Today 95% low calorie sweetner market is controlled by Aspartame (sugar free equal etc ). This is a chemical which is 10,000 times sweeter in its pure form but of late this sweetner has become a center of conterversy over its alleged brain cell damaging properties. SRB – 123 – Variety having its parentage in Paraguay suitable for Deccan platue where it can be harvested five times in one year. Total Glucoside content varies between 9-12 percent.

SRB – 512 – This variety is suitable for northern latitudes and This variety can be harvested four times in one year and Total glucoside content varies between 9-12 %

SRB – 128 – This unique variety has very high total glucoside content of 21 % . suitable for both southern as well as north Indian climates.

One acre of Stevia Rebaudiana cultivation would be sweetner equivalent to 36 Acres of Sugar Cane More so the sweetness in Stevia Rebaudiana leaves is healthy and harmless.

Apart from uses as sweetner this wonderful herb has other medicinal virtues such as per WHO findings.
